Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ECSW), has been proven to be highly effective in treating a range of musculoskeletal injuries.

The high energy, percussive, sound waves generated by the device are applied over the affected tissue. The metabolic activity of the soft tissue under treatment increases, leading to accelerated healing and remodelling. There is an immediate reduction in pain through inhibition of nociceptors for both chronic and acute presentations, although several sessions may be required for maximum effect. The result is increased function and movement, with reduced swelling and pain.

Shockwave therapy is effective for a variety of conditions, including plantar fasciitis and heel spurs, tendinopathies, lower back pain, rotator cuff and shoulder pain, elbow pain (tennis & golfer's elbow) and low back pain.

All our Physiotherapists are qualified to treat you with shockwave therapy, if indicated. Call now for an appointment.
