Group Exercise Classes

One of the best things about our physiotherapist led, Pilates-informed Group Exercise classes, is that they work so well for a wide range of people. Athletes and dancers love them, as do seniors, women rebounding from pregnancy, and people who at various stages of physical rehabilitation.

Many of the programs developed for the classes include exercises recruiting the deep trunk muscles, and in recent years, research has found that these inner postural muscles are essential for support of the body and its activities. The exercise classes may now include work using balls, elastics, foam mats, wobble boards as well as general mat work, reformer training and use of the trapeze table.

Before starting our Group Exercise classes for the first time, you will need to be assessed by one our physiotherapists to develop your goals.  It is in these two assessments that the physiotherapist will get to know exactly what it is that you need to work on in the classes, your history, as well as your strengths and weaknesses. They will tailor make a program for you, and then show you through the safety of the exercise equipment and how to use it including reformers and our trapeze table. Your exercises in the classes will be designed specifically for you, as everyone’s body has different needs so exercises that will help one person, may not be right for another.
